Se-Se-Wa-Hum High School
- Present enrolment is 381 grade six to twelve 2017-18 year.
- High School Programs includes after school sports activities, cultural days and an Elder’s Program.
- Elder’s program provides cultural teachings for students in school;
- The BRFN lunch program provides nutritious meals daily for students attending school (a breakfast and hot lunch program).
School updates
New High School
Aodbt architecture + interior design and the school steering committee has begun design work on a new High School for the community. On February 1, 2018 the consultants held a Community Information Session to meet with school staff, Elders, and community members to present the findings of the School Feasibility Study, discuss 21st-Century Learning concepts, get information from the community, and answer questions about the design process.
The new school will be approximately 5,100 square metres in size, and include the latest in educational amenities. The design team is anticipating that the project could go into construction as early as Fall/Winter of 2020 and the expected completion date is late spring of 2022.

Post Secondary Education Program
The Big River First Nation Post Secondary Student Support Program (PSSSP) aims to improve the employability of Big River First Nations students by providing them with funding to access education and skills development opportunities at the post-secondary level.
Eligible post-secondary levels include:

University Entrance Program

Community college: Certificate or Diploma programs

Bachelors Degree programs
-
Advanced or professional programs: Master’s or Doctorate
The program is administered by the Big River First Nation Post Secondary Program which determines the funding and selection criteria in accordance with national guidelines.
Eligible costs covered by the program may include tuition, books, travel support and living allowances.
Faxed or emailed applications will be accepted; incomplete forms will cause delay in processing.

Canada Emergency Student Benefit
The Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) provides financial support to post-secondary students, and recent post-secondary and high school graduates who are unable to find work due to COVID-19.
This benefit is for students who do not qualify for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or Employment Insurance (EI).
